Belly Fat
A Little Story...Move Your Ass!
Belly Fat—my husband is thin and he doesn’t know a thing about it. He’s never had to diet a day in his life. When I think of the two of us, I’m reminded of an old nursery rhyme—you know the one, about Jack and his wife. No, no! Not Jack and the Beanstalk…Jack Sprat.
Jack Sprat could eat no fat His wife could eat no lean And so betwixt the two of them They licked the platter clean
Remember that one? Most of the time, our body-type differences aren’t an issue for us unless we start talking about the subject of weight loss. The conversation usually goes something like this… Me: It’s so hard to lose weight, especially my "spare tire". Him: No, it isn’t. Me: How can you say that? You have no clue what you’re talking about. You have never been on a diet before, in fact, you don’t even know what a diet is! Him: True. But I still think losing weight is easy. You first have to decide what you really want. Once you’re determined to lose weight—it’s easy. Me: Okay, let’s agree to disagree.
No Belly Fat! My Hubby at the Grand Canyon
The other day he said something that stopped me in my tracks—and I mean literally.
He was helping me wash dishes, and once again, we started talking about the subject of weight loss. Boring, aren’t we? What can I say—it’s always on my mind. He finished drying the last plate and put it away. “Losing weight IS easy.” I rolled my eyes. “I’m so tired of hearing you say that,” I paused and continued, “If you really had to lose weight you wouldn’t say stuff like that.” His voice took on a serious tone as he replied, “You need to eat healthy foods and move your ass. Simple. Every time you want to eat, you should be asking yourself if it’s a healthy food choice. If the answer is yes, eat it in moderation. If the answer is no, don’t eat it. And exercise. That’s easy too. Move!” I just stood there and looked at him. Simple. It was simple—eat healthy foods and move your ass. How much easier can it be than that? Excuse me. I need to move my ass and get something healthy to eat! Maybe he does know a thing or two about losing weight! My husband is a smart man, and I love him, even though he doesn’t have any belly fat. Lucky guy! Moral of the story: Research agrees with my husband. The best way to lose weight, including your tummy, is to eat a healthy diet and exercise several times a week. You need to burn fat to lose fat, no matter where it is on your body.
