Finding “Me Time” for Healthy Weight Loss

5 Fast and Easy Tips to Lose Weight

Healthy Weight Loss is Possible…
Image the typical Monday morning of a busy mother—the alarm rings and she rolls over and slaps the clock. She slowly crawls out of bed and heads into the bathroom. Maybe today is the day she can take a shower and get dressed before someone yells, “Mom!”

Just as she steps into the warm stream of water, her twins tumble through the bathroom door, both demanding attention. With soapy water running down her face and into her eyes, she pushes the shower curtain back and yells for them to get out of the room.

She rinses off and then quickly runs a towel through her hair and wraps it around her body. She sighs as she realizes that it barely covers her body the way it used to. She doesn’t bother to step on the scale—the result would only depress her.

The next twenty minutes are a blur. She feeds the kids breakfast, throws the dishes into the dishwasher, searches for a missing sock, all while calling out spelling words because the girls forgot they had a quiz today.

As the kids run out the door to catch the bus, she hopes they make it on time, because she knows driving them to school would make her late for work.

Our busy mom grabs a doughnut, wraps it in a napkin, shoves it into her purse and follows her kids out the door. She has to pick up the cleaning, buy a book of stamps and mail off the bills, and call the doctor before heading off the work.

What a morning—and it’s only Monday!

“Healthy Weight Loss? I’m too Busy!”

Does this scene sound familiar?

Are you so busy taking care of others that you don’t have enough time for your own health? Finding “me time” is extremely important if you are striving towards healthy weight loss. Follow these 5 fast and easy tips…

1. Ask for Help:
If you have someone in your life (husband, sister, mother, friend) that can help run errands, help with the kids, etc…ask! If you are running yourself ragged, you can’t and won’t be effective. Stress is never a good thing!

2. Plan Your Time:
Before you go to bed each night, take a few minutes to plan the next day. Ask your husband and kids what’s happening in their lives—this helps alleviate last minute surprises. “Mom, I need to make a potato man for Social Studies and it’s due today!” Learn to use your calendar and plot out your week, so you don’t get slammed on any single day. Spread out your responsibilities though-out the week.

3. Plan your meals:
Pull out your recipe books when you have a quiet moment and plan out your meals for the entire week. If you create a list and shop for what you need, you will end up eating healthier. When you don’t have healthy foods available, you tend to reach for junk when you are stressed and running low on time.

4. Schedule Exercise into your Day:
You schedule haircuts and doctor appointments, why not schedule time to exercise too? If your family knows you are busy, they will be less apt to make demands of you your during that time.

5. Healthy Weight Loss=Getting a Healthy Dose of “Me Time” at Least Once a Week:
