Nordic Walking Sticks Will Slim and Trim Your Belly You Just Gotta “Stick” With It!

Your boots might be made for walking, but so are Nordic Walking Sticks. Nordic Walking, which became a fitness phenomenon in Finland and the rest of Europe, is now sweeping across America as people are discovering the multiple health benefits associated with this fun sport.

It builds muscle tone, bone density, strength, and endurance—not to mention that it burns up to 40% more calories than walking without poles. This alone should be enough for you to take notice!

What are the advantages of Nordic Walking?

Nordic walking provides a great workout for the entire body, in fact, it’s close to being the “perfect sport” because 90% of your muscles are involved when you are working out.

Wow—not bad, huh?

Through the use of Nordic Walking Sticks, or sometimes called Nordic Walking Poles, you will get a cardiovascular workout that works both the upper and lower body.

This is good news for people that are having trouble with belly fat and love handles—Nordic Walking provides the perfect remedy for these trouble spots! Walking with sticks provides an excellent core workout, which will strengthen and slim your waist, stomach, hips, and back.

My friend Claudia lost weight with Nordic Walking! You can too!

I was first exposed to Nordic walking two summers ago when we were visiting friends in Germany. I noticed several sets of walking poles leaning against the wall in their mudroom, and when I asked about them, Claudia excitedly told me about the new sport her family was taking part in.

She told me that she walked with her friends almost every day, and she walked with her husband and her 10 year-old daughter on the weekends. The good news about all of this walking was that she had lost about 40 pounds in the process.

Claudia invited me to go on a walk with her so I could discover the benefits of Nordic Walking first hand. Germany is a beautiful country that just begs to be explored by foot, as there are walking trails everywhere, so we set off on one such trail and walked for about 20 minutes the first day.

Before we started, she adjusted my poles and gave me a few pointers. She said I was a natural—I think she was just being nice, but I have to admit that it was a lot of fun and I really felt like I got a great workout. We took several longer walks throughout my vacation.

What special equipment do I need for Nordic Walking?

Wear the same clothing and footwear that you would for “regular walking” but you do need to invest in a pair of Nordic walking sticks or poles, which are available at sport stores, outdoor equipment stores, and you can also purchase them online.

I have included this video so you can learn about the techniques of walking with Nordic Walking Sticks.

Look for Nordic Walking Clubs in your Area.
