The Law of Attraction Think About It Lose Weight!

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

The Law of Attraction is a principle that says your thoughts, both conscious and unconscious, will influence what will happen to you. This goes for negative thoughts as well as positive ones, in other words, your thoughts attract and guide what will happen to you on a daily basis. Let’s use weight loss as an example. Imagine that you are embarking on a quest to lose 50 pounds. The day before you begin, you say to your friend, “I don’t know why I’m even bothering with this diet. Every time I try to lose weight I fail.” She shakes her head and replies, “I know. I think we’re destined to be fat.”

Ouch. Not only are you attracting negative thoughts, but you are also attracting negative people into your inner circle.

I’m sure you remember the phrase, “Surround yourself with positive people.” Well let’s take it one step further, surround yourself with positive thoughts and positive people and you will attract your desired outcome to you.

In its simplest terms, if you believe something to be true—it is.

If you think you have the potential to be highly successful—you will be.
If you think you are destined to fail—you will.
If you think you will ace the test if you study the materials—you will.
If you think you will find the man of your dreams and take action towards reaching that goal—you will.
If you decide to make healthy eating choices—you will.
If you think you will be overweight for the rest of your life—you will be.

An Example of One of My Vision Boards…What will yours look like?

The list goes on and on but the Law of Attraction applies to all aspects of your life. If you want to achieve success with weight loss, you have to truly believe that you will get to your goal weight. A vision board is a visualization tool that will help remind you what you are striving towards.

The more you see it—the more you believe it.

Visualization is the process of creating pictures in your mind of yourself enjoying what you want. When you visualize, you generate powerful thoughts and feelings of having it now. The law of attraction then returns that reality to you, just as you saw it in your mind. ~Rhonda Byrne/The Secret~

Create a vision board and look at it right when you wake up in the morning, and make sure it’s the last thing you see before you go to bed at night. Train your brain for success, and use the Law of Attraction and a vision board to help you get there.

Getting through a Weight Loss Plateau (Psst…you can do it!)

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Getting Through a Weight Loss Plateau:

Undoubtedly, when traveling down the road towards wellness, you will occasionally hit rough patches, detours, and roadblocks in self-motivation. Filled with self-doubt you might wonder, “How will I ever get through this weight loss plateau? Can I really make it to my goal weight?”

Plateaus are especially frustrating because even after weeks of doing everything “right”, you stay glued to the same spot on the scale, maybe a little up or a little down, but you stay the same—stuck.

Many people fall apart at this point and say things to themselves like, “See. I knew I couldn’t do it!” When this happens, control is lost. The best way to blow past a weight loss plateau is to use the power of your mind.

As humans, we tend to “beat ourselves up” mentally and we actually start to feed off our own negative vibes. Combating negativity takes practice but is a vital step towards reaching your weight loss goal. Using the techniques of positive self-talk and visualization will enable you to battle problems with your weight loss motivation.

The next time you hit a weight loss plateau or any other weight loss detour; think about the following story…

Lean back in your chair, close your eyes, and make yourself comfortable. Ready? Imagine that you have just arrived at the airport. You are excited about your upcoming vacation. You have waited weeks and weeks for this day to arrive. You check your luggage in and are told that your flight is on time—and you are even assigned a window seat—your favorite.

You casually walk towards your gate and stop in a store to buy a travel magazine filled with pictures of beaches, and loaded with articles about wonderful getaways. Everything is perfect—too perfect.

You finally make it to your gate just in time to hear an announcement proclaiming that your flight has been delayed because of mechanical problems. Heavy with disappointment, you sink into an uncomfortable plastic chair and begin to flip through your new magazine.

The beautiful beaches didn’t look so beautiful anymore, instead they only serve to remind you of how much you wish you were on the way to your beautiful island paradise.

Your disappointment now turns to anger, as you study the people walking past your gate. They look healthy, tan, and happy…many obviously returning from their vacations. You begin to feel sorry for yourself and wonder why the only flight that has been delayed is yours. You inwardly bemoan the fact that you worked so hard for this trip, and now it’s on the verge of being ruined.

Without warning, the woman from behind the counter announces that your flight has been canceled, and she cheerfully explains that everyone will receive a credit voucher for another flight sometime in the future.

She also explains that there is a slight possibility that several passengers will be able to be added to different flights, but would have to wait to find out how many spots are available. Most of the people in the waiting room get up and leave the area. You are tempted to follow them, but decide to wait it out.

As you wait, you imagine yourself on the beach wearing your new bathing suit. In your mind’s eye you look fantastic, relaxed, and happy.

Your thoughts are interrupted by a tap on the shoulder, and the information that not only do they have a spot on an upcoming flight, but you are also being bumped up to first class as well. Nice!

Was the time at the airport a hassle? Sure, but what matters the most is that you finally made it to your destination and had fun along the way. First class was great, wasn’t it? The plane even hit turbulence but you hardly even noticed.

The next time you ask yourself, “How do I get through a weight loss plateau?” Compare your weight loss delay to a delay at the airport. It’s disappointing and time consuming but you WILL eventually make it to your final destination!
